OH MY!!!

It seems that since we were waiting for summer's arrival, it came and went and we barely noticed! The past two days have felt more like our typical summer days than July and August combined! We did have a good summer, although it just wasn't as warm as usual! We hosted the 3rd Annual Red Bridge Run Canoe Race in June and earned $1100 for the Hubbard First Response Team! You may view pictures from the race and the race results at our website. July was filled with the normal things, the 4th of July Parade, the fireworks and plenty of people visiting our lovely town of Park Rapids. The fireworks this year were amazing - the best we've seen and we are looking forward to next year's display. Please try to be here for them, you won't regret making the trip! In August we added a small runabout for our guests to use; just perfect for two to cruise up and down the river! There's still plenty of time to come up for a weekend stay and enjoy the lazy river! The fall colors will be early this year, so hurry and make your reservations before you miss the spectacular beauty!! And if you are into scrapbooking, we are offering "The Crafty Retreat" for those that like to spend the weekend away doing projects - we offer peace and quiet and a good time will be had by those attending. I will close with this - there are still plenty of beautiful late summer/early fall days remaining to enjoy the tranquility of the northwoods, come and stay!

Where's Spring?

This is Minnesota, and we expect winter to drag on - forever, but this winter seems so much longer than normal. And to make matters worse, it's snowing as I'm typing this - yipee, I get to go shovel again! Yesterday was Ash Wednesday, six weeks until Easter. This means, for me, that I start getting spring fever. Yes, we're the best place for snowmobilers and cross-country skiiers as we are directly located at the beginning of the Heartland Trail that takes you to over 400 miles of trails. But I'm tired of the cold and snow, so sorry snowmobilers and winter enthusiasts. I long for warm spring and summer days when everyone wants to come to the Red Bridge Inn for rest and relaxation! And let's not forget - romance! We're a great place for couples to enjoy a glass of wine on the deck looking over the peaceful river! C'mon Spring!!! And please plan your getaway and come visit us at the Red Bridge Inn (whether it's spring, summer, fall OR winter).

Is it over???

I heard on the news last night that we had 41 days of sub-zero temperatures. 41 days!!! Ee gads, is it over yet? If today was any indication, I would say, "yes it is." As I was driving east I saw the temperature sign and it read 41 degrees...isn't that ironic! So I'm hoping that spring is just around the corner. But for those of you still wanting to snowmobile, cross-country ski, etc., there is still plenty of snow for the winter activities! A good hot breakfast will get you on your way for the day. Then afterwards get a massage and relax! Enjoy a glass of wine and unwind from the stress of Monday-Friday! You might find yourself wanting to come back for more of the Red Bridge Inn!

Happy Holidays!

We had a very White Christmas this year at the Red Bridge Inn! And, we wish everyone a Happy New Year. May 2009 bring us many blessings.

We have at least two feet of snow and are hoping that snowmobilers will find that our rates are reasonable and want to visit! The trails are groomed and ready! We are right on the trails; and the atmosphere and hospitality at the Inn can't be beat! Not only are we a great place for snowmobilers, but the area is excellent for cross-country skiers! There are several trails and Soaring Eagle is 9 miles up the road from us; terrific trails that are maintained for cross-country. Make the weekend even more special and try our spa package - a great way to relax after a day of skiing or snowmobiling!

Hope to see you soon!

I'm as bad as my son!

I realized that it has been quite some time since I wrote last in the blog. Which puts me right in the category with my son who has been awful blogging about his experiences in the Peace Corps in Mali, West Africa! He has gotten better, so it is my turn to "step up to the plate!"

We had a wonderful summer; the season seemed short, but it was great none-the-less! We met so many wonderful people that were guest at the Inn and we look forward to having you stay with us again in the future.

We look toward fall...yes, the leaves have already started to turn and the next two weeks will be peak!! So if you have any intentions of viewing the fall colors, now is the time to make your reservation! This weekend is the Headwaters 100 bike tour and race. Always a wonderful event, especially when the weather cooperates - as we are hoping for a beautiful weekend!

We would like to think that the sun is always shining when you stay at the Red Bridge Inn! Blessings to you!
